Gryphon the Mighty
October 20, 1990 - October 18, 1996
Run swiftly with the Black Rabbit, dear Gryphon. You will always be King
in our hearts.
Gryphon was larger than life. He touched hundreds of people who never met
him, his presence felt through our retelling of his "adventures" to other
bunny people on the internet, many of whom also know the terrible grief of
watching a rabbit companion leave their arms for the Rainbow
Bridge
. When he passed over to the other side, a
great tremor was felt in the World of Rabbit.
Of the original Dragon Clan, only
Maggie
survives. After Gryphon's death, Duncan was never the same joyful boy. He
became silent and more shy. Only a few months after his Mighty Hero Gryphon passed over, Duncan joined him
due to complications suffered from a serious eye injury accidentally inflicted
(we believe) by Maggie.
Gryphon and Duncan were inseparable in
life. Is it any wonder that Gryphon's accolyte wanted to join him on the
other side?
But the
Legend of Gryphon lives on!
Being a Legend is exhausting work!
King of the Underworld!! Gryphon loved to play in the Caverns of Mystery (say it with a Roadside Attraction Drawl),
excavated by his daughter, Nala.
Farewell, beloved Gryphon. We'll meet again in that lovely place where the salad
dish is never empty. Until then, a part of us will always be with you in
that Golden Meadow.
