The Archangel Hamish

Hamish was taken in by the Wildlife Care Center as a skeleton-thin stray. He developed a severe head tilt (torticollis), which essentially went untreated for several weeks. By the time we saw his picture and called up to ask about him, his time was up. The staff was set to euthanize him the next day.
Hamish came home to live with us, tilty head and all. The picture above shows him in a not-so-tilty moment. Most of the time, his head was nearly upside down.
Dr. Susan Kelleher became his veterinarian, and she cultured out a nasty strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in his ears.
Eight months and several hundred dollars worth of antibiotics (have you priced ciprofloxacin, lately?), acupuncture and chiropractic treatments later, Haeme' is a magnificent, fluffy studmuffin (well, except for the "stud" parts...) with only the slightest remnant of his former head tilt. Actually, we think it makes him look kinda rakish.

Hamish is King of the Backyard, where he's sure to chin everything and everyone in reach.
He shares his love with Maggie the Klingon, and even puts up with her temper. When she gets to be too much, though, Hamish trys to become an honorary Wolf, by invading the territory of Jessica and Wolf. Jess' doesn't mind (she thinks he's kinda cute), but Wolf would like Hamish the Hopeful Wife Stealer to be eaten by an alligator.

Watch for updates to this site, as pictures of Hamish, the rabbit with the world's biggest tail, are added. And stories, too!
