General Degree Requirements

1. English Composition - 3-6 credits

Except as indicated below, students must take English 105 and 106 (or its equivalent) during the first

year of enrollment in the College. Admission to ENG 105 requires a placement score acceptable to the

Department of English. Students whose placement scores are deemed unacceptably low will be

required to take the non-credit course, ENG 103, before taking ENG 105 and 106. Such students must

fulfill the English composition within the first three semesters in the College. Students whose placement 

scores are high may be exempted from ENG 105, but not from ENG 106 or its equivalent.

2. Mathematics - 4 credits

MTH 111 or equivalent

3. Statistics and Computer Programming - 6-7 credits

a. MTH 224 or PSY 204 (MAS 201 for Bus. Admin. Track)

b. CSC 120 or CIS 120

4. Humanities - 12 credits

a. Literature - 3 credits

    ENG 201, 202, 211, 212, 213, or 214.

                b. Fine Arts - 3 credits

                    ART 101, ART 103, ART 104, ARH 131, ARH 132, ARH 133, CPC 107, DAN 250, THA 105, THA 481,
                    THA 482, MCY 131 or 132, MCY 325, MCY 361, MCY 362, or MTC 125.

                c. Philosophy/Religion - 3 credits

                     PHI 101, PHI 271, PHI 272, either PHI 130 or REL 151, REL 101, REL 111, REL 121, REL 131,
                     REL 232

                d. An additional 3 credits from a, b, or c above or 3 credits in a foreign language other than one’s
                    native language.

5. Social Science - 6 credits

                a. History - 3 credits

                     HIS 211, 212, 221, 222, 251, 252, 261, or 262.

                b. An additional 3 credits from: APY 201, APY 202, COM 110, ECO 211, ECO 212,

                    GEG 105, GEG 110, POL 211, POL 212, PSY 110, PSY 203, PSY 209, SOC 101, SOC 103, or SOC 210.

6. Writing - 15 credits

                     May include any of the courses listed above except ENG 105 and ENG 106.
