20,000 years ago - sea levels were 120 ft. lower than today. As the ice ages receeded and the ice melted the coastlines advanced to their present positions (black lines). Future melting of the Arctic & Antarctic ice shelves may raise sea levels from 4 inches to 3 feet. |
